Vodafone easybox 802

October 9, 2011 by Igor Drobot 4 Comments

Some days ago I got a new ADSL2+ connection from a new ISP(1und1). Of cource I get a hardware package with brand new 1und1 homeserver, the real product behind this name is a FRITZ!Box 7320.

The first problem was, I cant use fritzbox simultaneous as a DSL-Modem and VOIP-Gateway. I need a DSL-Modem with PPPoE pass-through function to establish the PPP-Session from a Linux-Server.

The great solution was to take another DSL-Router with Modem function this was a Vodafone easybox 802 model.
I disabled all unnecessary functions like: WLAN, NAT, DHCP and other bullshit. This should be a pure and stupid DSL-Modem. This setup worked great but some websites were not accessible. This was not a firewall (iptables) or MTU/PMTUD problem.

Some interesting info and facts:
Default IP-Address: 192.168.2.1 (255.255.255.0)
Default Username and Password: root : 123456

– You cannot set routes in easybox 802 …

BTW here you can get the newest easybox 802 Firmware 20.02.231.bin: Download it!

Update 16.10.2011 – 1600
Configure PPPoEpassthrough:

I got this DSL-router from a friend and wanted to use it just for the WiFi 802.11n 40Mhz capabilities, connected to a cabel model (Kabel). I have been fizzling around with it but connecting the DSL port to my router brings a (somewhat obvious) message that DSL is down when I connect to the wifihotspot just created.

I was thinking if there’s a way to achieve what I want, maybe through a firmware update or some configuration. Hope this post is not lost etherspace!

    Thanks

    Thanks for this.
Were you able to get the phone working?
Could you share the settings you used for the phone settings?
    Thanks so much
    Jed
