Terminator

July 1, 2012 by Igor Drobot Leave a Comment

Everyone of you know the default GNOME Terminal or the KDE-Konsole, this terminals are usable only after some tweaks like color scheme or the hotkey binding.
I work usually with a lot different tabs and I have too much of them to have a overview, but I found a great solution – Terminator. Terminator supports multiple GNOME terminals in one window. All windows can be easily created vertical or horizontal and by a pretty hot key ;)

Install Terminator:

1
apt-get install terminator

apt-get install terminator

Launch Terminator and have fun with your new terminals :)

Some hot-keys:
Ctrl-Shift-E: will split the view vertically.
Ctrl-Shift-O: will split the view horizontally.
Ctrl-Shift-P: will focus be active on the previous view.
Ctrl-Shift-N: will focus be active on the next view.
Ctrl-Shift-W: will close the view where the focus is on.
Ctrl-Shift-Q: will exit terminator.
F11: will make terminator go full screen.
F11: will close the full screen view.

Via drag and drop you can also move your windows too;)
